Maids of Honor.

In my previous post entitled, 'Being "Snubbed"...' I touched on African-Americans being scornfully ignored for their meritable roles in films, when award season surfaces. Happily, my desire for those deserving of winning occurred last night, when the maids of honor stole the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG). Viola Davis, finally nailed the best Actress award this time beating out Meryl Streep, while Octavia Spencer received apprehending recognition for her amazing supporting role in "The Help". This film's focal point illustrated the tension African-American maids sought by their Caucasian oppressors, inspired by the Kathryn Stockett novel.
Soon after, these terrific women won, the cast of the film accepted the award for, Outstanding Cast in a Motion Picture for "The Help." The room was flourished with surprise and acclaim giving a special-emotional, standing ovation for the duo and their cast mates. In the past, Octavia retrieved minimal unacknowledged roles on TV sitcoms and film, hence "Minny"- the sarcastic-sassy mouthy maid was her big break. “It's important to keep the younger generation abreast of how far we’ve come, because this is really foreign to them", said Spencer.
Upon Viola's acceptance speech, she spoke of something imperative ,"The stain of racism and sexism is not just for people of color or women — it's all of our burden."
Usually, the SAG Awards startles the forecast of the prestigious Academy Awards outcome, therefore this may be promising for the two pictured above.

Aside from being award-winners, the pair were among the red carpets hits. Take a look!
