If You Seek "AMY". . .

Typically, fashion designers involvement in Fashion Week is to merely showcase their line of mouth-watering pieces to the world. Here, Jean Paul Gaultier instead envisioned a show of models aligned with replicas of Amy Winehouse's usual inclination of hair and makeup, concurrently wearing his collection. I found this admiration respectable to a specific instinct, but more importantly it was Amy's father Mitch Winehouse, that felt Gaultier was pushing the envelope. Moreover, Mitch was bothered by the audacity to proceed with the show without any permission. Mr. Winehouse referred to these designs as "bad taste". He too believed this was a misleading concept to her image by stating, "It portrays a view of Amy when she was not at her best and glamorizes some of the upsetting times in her life."
For example, one of the models below strutted down the runway with a cigarette in hand, which I consider on the brink of "too much".

By the way, the MTV VMA's could have done a more worthy job adding a lineup of stars with just singer/pianist, Bruno Mars to pay tribute to the late singer. Winehouse, favored for her popular song, Rehab passed away July 23, 2011.
RIP
